4: Under His Wings

UNDER HIS WINGS
He will Cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge.
Psalm 91:4

The above verse in Psalm depicts a beautiful picture about the character of God.  With many things in life, this serves as a great reminder of how God is the one who protects and in whom we seek refuge. Though the refuge and the protection of the most sovereign Lord on high is available,  do we run to Him or do we run to other things?

Often we don't.  We seek friends, spouses or sometimes even material things like food to protect and comfort us instead of the almighty God.  This devotion was convicting and a great reminder to seek refuge in Him and go to Him first.  Before friends.  Before tasks.  Before chocolate.  When we do go to something else first, how blessed are when when God sends reminders (sometimes not so subtle) through lyrics of a song or maybe through the advice of a friend, to get us back on track, and turn to him. He is there, with outstretched wings, waiting.

Sometimes we have to pull ourselves out of the daily grind and seek his protection.  Tasks, obligations, goals, you name it, is out there, trying to undermine the peace and protection God has for us.  It makes such a difference when lay down our pride, lay down our control, lay down our (you fill in the blank) and RUN to Jesus.

Don't you just love the illustration of running towards him like a chick to a momma hen?  The total abandonment and one track focus of running when the momma hen starts clucking.  God, as much as he loves us, gave us free will and isn't going to insert himself into a situation unless we allow him to.  Unless we call upon him.  Unless we communicate with him on a daily basis where when we do face trouble, when we do need to seek refuge, that we run to him for shelter and protection like a little chick.  The shelter of His wings offers protection, intimate moments with our King, and a comforting familiarity that we have only in him. We make knock our heads into several walls before we allow him to be our protection but only He is the true source of hope.

Ang shared how she has been overwhelmed with the lack of response to the Ozone Corporate breakfast. The more she kept trying to do things to get a better response, the worse the response became.  She was very thankful for the reminder of Carson to pray about it.  Though we can try to do good on our own in a lot of different ways, without God, the impact is not the same.

What a great reminder that we all need to remember to pray to God for all things.

EVERYONE_Moving to the Ida soon..  Safe travels and a smooth transition.

MK-Mom found out has had tuberculosis since 2001.  Don't have medical insurance.  Not sure if it is dormant or can be treated.  Car in shop.  Extreme oil leak...not sure how much that will cost.

CT-Feel under attack, praying for a perspective to be in truth and what is eternal and not in circumstances .  Pray for perspective and strength.

HS-Pray for meetings with potential OFA partners.  Been great to see what these people are doing with kids on a day to day basis, and what camp has done for some of the kids.  And, for the new groups, for them to see that it is worth it, and God will provide money for transportation.

Also, for a camper she meets with on a weekly basis.  Pray for how to love her.  Falling into some stuff that we wouldn't' want her to fall in to.  To show her grace but also tough love, for wisdom and discernment to show her what is important.

ST-Reflect on Holy week, focus on reason for season.  Think about what Christ did for us to overcome sin.
